What is Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE) and how can you manage this condition if you or your child is impacted?
Join us for an informative and educational webinar on EoE, a type of food allergy that affects the gastrointestinal/digestive tract. You’ll gain a better understanding of this non IgE-mediated food allergy and helpful strategies for managing it from our guest speakers including a pediatric gastroenterologist and a registered dietitian.
- What the webinar is about: The basics of EoE, including signs/symptoms and treatment, and how to manage daily living, followed by Q&A, where you can ask questions. Plus, you can submit your questions in advance upon registration.
- Who is presenting:
- Dr. Vishal Avinashi is a Pediatric Gastroenterologist at BC Children’s Hospital, involved with the Complex Feeding and Nutrition Service, and is a Co-Director of the Eosinophilic Esophagitis Clinic. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, Department of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia.
- Kirstin Wingate is a dietitian at BC Children’s Hospital with the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. She has previously worked as a research dietitian with the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Allergy & Immunology at the University of British Columbia.

November 18th: Plant-based food trends and the impact to those with food allergy
Plant-based foods options are on the rise as many are looking to maintain healthier diets, but did you know that the ingredients in these foods may impact those with food allergy?

- Who is presenting: Dr. Jennifer Protudjer is the Endowed Research Chair in Allergy, Asthma and the Environment, and an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health at the University of Manitoba, an epidemiologist with the Clinical Trials Platform at the George and Fay Yee Center for Healthcare Innovation, and a research scientist at the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba.

Thanksgiving weekend in Canada is here! While you celebrate this weekend, remember to give thanks to those who support you as you manage food allergy. Take a moment to read our reminders below to help you and your loved ones have a safe and fun celebration.

Although Thanksgiving will be different this year as we take extra safety precautions, many of our tips for staying safe during any holiday still apply.
Plan ahead and have a strategy for the day, learn how with these tips.
Remember to check public health guidance in your area on participating in Thanksgiving celebrations with family.
Remember to do the “triple check” for products purchased in-store and online. Ingredients may change without warning, and ingredients may vary from what is listed on the product versus on a website. Check for allergens in non-food products too, like hand sanitizers and cleaning products.
