Helpful tips for allergy-friendly celebrations during Ramadan, Easter, and Passover

Ramadan, Easter, and Passover are all being celebrated this month. Check out our top tips for managing food allergy confidently during your celebrations!

Do the triple-check when buying food for celebrations

During this time of year, some companies may create an Easter edition of their products, which can sometimes be distinguished by different packaging with fun Easter designs and/or shapes. Although the product itself may look the same, the ingredients may differ from the regular version, as the Easter version may be manufactured in a different facility. It is important to read the ingredient label carefully from start to finish, including any “may contain” statements, on all product sizes and versions, even if it has been “safe” in the past. Learn how to do the “triple check” and call manufacturers directly if you have any questions about the product ingredients.

Read labels 3 times: Do the triple-check

  • Once at the store before buying a product.
  • Once when you get home and put it away.
  • Again, before you serve or eat the product.

Kitchen tips for when you’re preparing meals for guests with food allergy

Couple preparing food in kitchen.
  • Wash hands thoroughly before and after working in the kitchen.
  • Cook meals that are free of the person’s allergens first, using separate cookware and serving utensils.
  • Do not use the same utensils when serving food to the person who has the food allergy.
